The Red Thread Press is a small translation press dedicated to danmei (bl) — the kind of stories that linger long after the last chapter. A handful of translators carry each novel from Chinese into English, one chapter at a time.
We work slowly and by hand. Every chapter is read, checked, and released on its own — not batched, not rushed. The thread we follow is the story itself, and we try to keep it taut from first chapter to last.
What we hold to
Faithful, not literal
We translate for meaning and voice, not word-for-word — so the story reads the way it was meant to feel.
A voice per translator
Each translator brings their own ear. We keep their name on every chapter they carry across.
Shared with care
Every chapter is read, checked, and released by hand. We share these stories freely, and credit the authors who wrote them.
